World Gymnaestrada Team Coach
Hayley (she/her) has been coaching gymnastics for 21 years, including 4 years with CAPTivate. She has coached athletes of every age, skill level, gender and neuro-ability. Hayley is certified in Competition 3 Women's Artistic Gymnastics, Competition 1 Men's Artistic Gymnastics, and Level 2 Trampoline through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). She helped to represent Team Canada at the 2019 World Gymnaestrada in Austria. Over the last 7 years, she has been coaching and training in acroyoga and standing acrobatics, and attending and teaching at acro festivals across the continent. Hayley is professional geoscientist and professional engineer, and she worked in oil and gas for 11 years before giving that up to focus on CAPTivate full time. She is the wife of Canada's national tumbling coach, and the mother of three young kids and one big floofy dog.
World Gymnaestrada Team Coach
Kenya (she/her) has been coaching gymnastics for 5 years, including 4 years with CAPTivate. Prior to coaching, Kenya trained in recreational gymnastics for 10 years, of which 6 years were with performance teams. She has coached ages toddler to adult. She was recently recognized by the Alberta Gymnastics Federation for being one of only 6 gymnasts in the province to pass the final badge level of recreational gymnastics that year. In addition, Kenya has been training in dance and group choreography for 5 years through her arts school productions and dance team. Kenya is Competition 1 Certified in Artistic Gymnastics and Level 2 Trampoline Certified through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) and has been choreographing gymnastics routines for 8 years. She is organized, creative, and a total rock star.
World Gymnaestrada Team Coach
Rebecca, or “Coach Becks” (she/her), has been part of the gymnastics world for over a decade and a CAPTivate coach for 2 years. She has experience coaching artistic gymnastics, trampoline & tumbling (T&T) and acrobatic gymnastics, both competitively and recreationally. Rebecca was a dancer and has choreographed multiple routines in many disciplines. She also trained in artistic gymnastics and T&T competitively. She is certified in Women’s Artistic Level 2 and Trampoline Level 2 through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). More recently, she has focused on acrobatics and is a phenomenal lady-basing boss. You can catch her wearing silly socks and a big smile on her face. She is passionate about helping others achieve their gymnastics goals, and loves to see the look on her athletes’ faces when they ace a tricky skill.
Emily (she/her) has been coaching gymnastics for 13 years and loves being in the gym, coaching everyone from toddlers to adults. Before becoming a coach, Emily trained as a competitive artistic gymnast for 10 years, was part of a gymnaestrada team for 2 years, and then transitioned to trampoline and tumbling for 2 years. Outside of gymnastics, Emily was also a cheerleader for 2 years. Through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP), Emily is Artistic Gymnastics Level 2 Certified and Level 2 Trampoline trained. Emily’s proudest coaching moment was being awarded the Gymnastics British Columbia Promotion Plus Emerging Gymnastics Leader of the Year in 2018. She loves helping others and sharing the sport of gymnastics. She thinks that no matter where you are in the world, when you move your body and get upside down, you always feel at home.
Morgan (she/her) came into the world of gymnastics through the avenue of dance, a passion of hers since 2006. She started coaching gymnastics in 2019 and is now artistic gymnastics Competition 1 certified and Level 2 Trampoline trained through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). Morgan also has countless other relevant certifications, including being a certified Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) instructor, a certified yoga instructor, and a certified AcroLove teacher for acroyoga. Morgan loves all things choreography, dance, and gymnastics! If she could remind you of one thing, it would be that you don’t have to be the best, you just have to try your best!
Amy (she/her) trained for 7 years as an artistic gymnast, and then found a new passion in coaching, starting in 2016. She has coached children and adults of all ages and levels, and she has choreographed a variety of artistic routines. Through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP), Amy is Competition 2 trained and Trampoline 2 certified. Outside of the gymnastics world, Amy is currently studying Community Rehabilitation and Disability at the University of Calgary. She is an avid leader and is passionate about sharing her love for gymnastics with other people!
Hannah (she/her) has been coaching recreational gymnastics for 5 years working with athletes of all ages and abilities. Prior to coaching, Hannah trained in recreational gymnastics for 14 years, including 6 years with performance teams, and obtained her CanGym Gold badge during that time. She also represented Team Canada in Austria at the World Gymnaestrada in 2019. Hannah is passionate about helping others achieve their goals, big or small, and watching others become as excited about the sport of gymnastics as she is. She is Competition 2 Artistic trained and Level 2 Trampoline certified through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). She is fun, innovative and energetic!
Melissa (she/her) has a strong passion for gymnastics that started at a young age. As a competitive gymnast, she represented Manitoba at the Western Canadian Gymnastics Championships. She has coached gymnasts of all ages and believes that everyone can benefit and find enjoyment with the sport. She is Level 2 artistic gymnastics certified and Level 2 trampoline trained with the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). Melissa loves supporting people as they reach their goals as both a gymnastics coach and as an occupational therapist, working with autistic children and youth. Other than spending time in the gymnastics gym, you can find Melissa in the mountains or at Made by Marcus.
Robert (he/him) has been coaching gymnastics since he was 13 years old, including men’s artistic, trampoline, performance team, acrobatic gymnastics, acro dance, and women’s artistic. Prior to coaching, Robert trained in men’s artistic and acrobatic gymnastics for over 15 years. In addition, Robert was a competitive pole vaulter in high school. He is passionate about long-term athletic development and helping everyone, at any age and skill level, achieve their goals. Robert is Level 2 Artistic Gymnastics trained and Level 3 Trampoline trained through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) and he is a dance, acro and artistic gymnastics choreographer.
Katie (she/her) has been coaching gymnastics for 9 years, including preschool, recreational, competitive, and acro dance. Prior to coaching, Katie trained in competitive gymnastics as an athlete for 6 years and trained in acro dance for 3 years. Katie is passionate about sharing her love for gymnastics with people of all ages and skill levels. Katie is Competition 2 Artistic Gymnastics trained and Competition 1 Trampoline trained through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). She is absolutely crazy about pasta and loves a good baby snuggle.
Elisabeth (she/her) has been coaching gymnastics on and off for 7 years, including pre-competitive, artistic gymnastics, and trampoline and tumbling (T&T) gymnastics. Prior to coaching, Elisabeth trained in T&T gymnastics for 3 years. In addition, Elisabeth was a national-level synchronized (artistic) swimmer for 10 years, during which time she represented Team Canada at international competitions. Elisabeth is passionate about helping athletes reach their goals and push themselves while developing/maintaining a healthy relationship with physical activity throughout their whole lifetime. Elisabeth is Artistic Competition 1 and Trampoline 2 trained through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). She is passionate about fitness and food as well as sharing those passions with others.
Joel (he/him) was a competitive Men's Artistic gymnast from the ages of 8 to 24-ish. He competed 1 year at the Senior National level before retiring from competitive gymnastics to coach full-time. He is Level 3 certified in Men's Artistic Gymnastics AND Women's Artistic Gymnastics, and Level 3 trained on Trampoline through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). Joel has been coaching rec/comp gymnastics for 11 years and loves coaching because of the positive impact he gets to have on entire generations of athletes. Gymnastics has been a major part of his life and is still shaping who he is as a person. He wants to pay it forward by holding the highest possible standards of coaching, professionalism and safety.
Andrew (he/him) was a competitive national-level T&T coach for about 5 years and is Level 3 Trampoline trained through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). He has taken a long break from coaching but is excited to get back into coaching with CAPTivate! Prior to coaching, Andrew represented Canada as a member of our national power tumbling team. He started his gymnastics career at the very young age of 3 and retired when he was 22. Since his retirement, Andrew stays active by working out, playing soccer, and doing partner acrobatics. Andrew is thrilled to get the opportunity to work with adults! He is ready to pass along his knowledge and have some fun!
Hayley (she/her) has been coaching gymnastics for about 3 years, including preschool, recreational, performance teams, advanced recreational, and pre-competitive Trampoline & Tumbling. Prior to coaching, Hayley trained as an advanced recreational gymnast, doing interclub and performance teams for 8 years, then moved into competitive T&T for the past 5 years. Hayley continues to train and compete in T&T at the national level. In addition, Hayley trained in dance for 8 years through several different companies. Hayley is Trampoline Level 2 certified and Competition 2 Women's Artistic trained through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). She is passionate about watching athletes grow and achieve their goals within gymnastics. Overall, Hayley is energetic, enthusiastic and adventurous!
Bianca (she/her) has been coaching gymnastics for 16 years, including preschool, recreational T&T and artistic, competitive T&T and artistic, and parkour. Prior to coaching, Bianca trained on a performance team for 2 years, did competitive artistic gymnastics for 7 years, and then did competitive T&T for 5 years. Bianca is Level 2 Women's Artistic Gymnastics Certified, Level 2 Men's Artistic Gymnastics Trained and Level 3 Trampoline Trained through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). Bianca loves lacrosse, hockey and dressing up in silly costumes! She also gives amazing hugs.
Calina (she/her) has coached competitive gymnastics for 30 years in Canada, the USA and Europe. She has choreographed routines for gymnastics and performing arts, fashion shows and movie productions. She is passionate about the creativity and artistry of gymnastics. In her younger days, Calina was a member of the Romanian national gymnastics team, then she earned a diploma in dance at the Performing Arts School of Romania. After studying Physical Education at the university level, Calina moved to Canada and taught with the Faculty of Dance at York University in Toronto for one year. Calina is Level 3 Certified in Women's Artistic Gymnastics through the National Coaching Certification Program and has been a Head Coach at several Canadian gymnastics clubs. She is understanding, considerate, creative, and excited to be joining the CAPTivate Gymnastics community!
